Patricia Varga|Founder
A Woman with Wings began in July of 1993 when founder Patricia Varga picked up a pen and started writing about the journey of Woman ... her challenges and fears, her joys ... and how she ultimately learns to mentor herself and then other women. The resulting manuscript "A Woman with Wings: The Journey" is the basis for all of Wings products, services and programs. Please see About Wings.
A 25-year veteran of publishing and media, Patricia has worked on a wide range of publications, including Outside Magazine, Men’s Health, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Town & Country, Business 2.0, The Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker and The Economist/economist.com. Varga has also worked in sales, marketing and content development for companies such as Times-Mirror, Conde Nast, Hearst, and Hachette. She is currently a partner at PSN, Inc. Professional Social Networks Inc, a media company that publishes peer-to-peer networking websites for Sr. Level Executives.
Philanthropically, Patricia works with Haven House, a domestic violence crisis shelter, where she teaches creativity to abused women in transition. Similarly, at the Glendale Adventist Cancer Center, Patricia leads creativity workshops for patients with cancer and their families. Varga also works with A Window between Worlds, teaching her workshops to domestic violence survivors.
Varga is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard's Publishing Procedures Program. She continues her education and love of visual communication at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California.

Clayton A. Varga, MD, MHSM
Dr. Varga received his Doctor of Medicine from USC, and later completed a residency in Anesthesiology and a fellowship in Pain Management at UCLA. Dr. Varga subsequently returned to USC as the Director of Pain Management and became a founding member of the American Academy of Pain Management. In 1990, Dr. Varga moved his practice to Pasadena, and over time this evolved into the Pasadena Rehabilitation Institute.
Dr. Varga served as the Corporate Medical Director for Summit Health, developing 20 pain management centers under the corporate trademark over the southwestern United States. He has also developed pain-management centers for other corporate entities, hospitals and individual physicians, starting more than 40 new centers in the last 20 years. In the mid 1990s, Dr. Varga earned a Master's degree from the Department of Health Systems Management at Tulane University and subsequently completed the Mergers and Acquisitions Program at the UCLA Anderson School of Business. Dr. Varga is the founder and CEO of Fusion Health, and currently owns, operates or manages more than 20 separate practices and facilities throughout Southern California. He enjoys live theater, classical music, the acquisition of knowledge and spending time with family and friends.

Dorian's main focus is on new and existing media forms devoted to philanthropy and social change. He has launched several multi-media properties dedicated to the greater good: Benefit Magazine about the lifestyle of giving in the
Bay Area; Just Cause Magazine about making a difference locally and globally; JustCauseIt.com the content-driven social networking website for people engaged in their communities; and Contribute Media, which reports on the people and ideas of giving.
Dorian uses a rich background steeped in advertising, marketing and sales to consult on marketing and communications strategy for nonprofit causes such as the UCSF Mission Bay Hospital, the Pediatric AIDS Society, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the American Prostate Cancer Initiative, the American Red Cross, Yale University, U.C. Berkeley, Teach for America, Toys for Tots, Project Angel Food, 826 Valencia, A Woman with Wings and WOW for Africa.
Dorian has spent over 25 years working with leading Fortune 500 marketers and national ad agencies representing every major category and market.Dorian's publishing history includes: Esquire, Disney, Sport, Mirabella, People, Parade, the Los Angeles Times, Special Reports, Elle Décor, Worth, Digital Living, California Magazine. He also helped launch Screenvision, babycenter.com, homeportfolio.com and Scrubs.
Dorian holds a B.A. from Yale University. His wife Elyse is a pediatric chemotherapist, a maternal-child health expert, and a fashion and philanthropy creative director. Dorian has coached his kids’ basketball and soccer teams for more than ten years, but is now on sabbatical having recently become an empty nester.

Julia is a passionate writer who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Southern California in 2005 with a B.A. in Philosophy. She is eager to explore ways to help students and young adults launch their adult lives with a sense of purpose, with the help of caring mentors.

Bill Gerneglia | Chief Technology Consultant
Bill has been a member of the technology industry for 20 years and brings extensive expertise to the role of CTO. Most recently, Bill held the position of CTO of both Wiseads New Media and About.com. Bill also started an Advertising Network named GolfHelp.com targeting golf consumers and advertisers.
He worked for more than ten years as a systems & database C/C++ programmer at various Technology and Publishing companies before joining Oracle in their Architectural Services Division. He then became the VP of Systems & Quality for Elsevier Engineering Information where he helped build the Engineering Information Village. This product provided Web based full text search access to the Compendex database. This database is used daily by thousands of scientific and research organizations around the world.
Bill studied Electrical Engineering at Manhattan College and Industrial Management at SUNY Stonybrook.

Gwen Matthews | RN, MSN, MBA / Women's Health
Gwen is the Senior Vice President for Clinical Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, a 457-bed facility in Southern California. She brings with her a rich legacy of nursing and leadership experiences extending from the bedside to the boardroom.
After 35 years in this profession, she delights in developing a culture of clinical excellence through active learning and sharing in the practice environment, keeping the patient and family central to what drives care delivery activities and organizational improvement, and creating forums for interdisciplinary dialogue and planning.
She has worked in rural, urban, academic and clinic settings in a variety of clinical, teaching, and management positions and has been active with a number of professional organizations. She is past president of AONE-Hawaii and currently serves on the ACNL Board and is the Board liaison to the Voice of Nursing Leadership Committee.
