Domestic Violence is one of the most common of all crimes.
It is defined as a pattern of coercive tactics, which can include psychological and emotional, social, financial, physical and sexual abuse, perpetrated by a family or household member, a boyfriend or significant other, with the goal of establishing or maintaining power and control over the victim.

I recently worked with Kim Abeles on the
installation of her major exhibition entitled “Pearls of Wisdom,” a two-year
project that involved working with 800 survivors of domestic violence and the
outstanding organization, A Window between Worlds, one of my favorite
organizations, (awbw.org.) This art exhibit is based on the powerful metaphor
of pearls, essentially grains of sand that are irritants to the oyster that
become things of beauty.
