Love Notes: From a Mother to her Daughter.

I have been meaning to introduce Devon Williams to the Wings community for quite some time.  She is a remarkable woman, professional, mother, spouse and a breast cancer survivor.  Devon is the founder of One in Eight Photos (www.oneineightphotos.com) and gives beauty new meaning to those who have survived breast cancer.

Devon is inspirational, compassionate and very creative.  I devote this article to her and her lovely thoughts for tomorrow’s Mother Day, May 8th, 2011.

“My nine year old daughter, Fiona, auditioned this week for her school's talent show.  She sang the song, Wild Horses by Natasha Bedingfield.  I sat in the school's auditoriumlistening to her and was struck by the soulfulness of my daughter.  She has a depth that is profound.  Both of my daughters do.  Is it because they went through cancer with me?  Don't know.  My mantra at the time of treatment was to "teach them to be brave."  I had to examine what bravery meant to me.  On all levels.   When to reveal my vulnerabilities.  They are such strong, lovely girls.  I am so proud to know them!

These words really speak to me.  Of the fears I face every day.  Also of joy.  My daughter is teaching me something about my life as well as her own.”

WILD HORSES By Natasha Bedingfield

I feel these four walls closing in

Face up against the glass

I’m looking out

Is this my life I’m wonderin’?

It happened so fast

How do I turn this thing around?

Is this the bed I chose to make?

There’s greener pastures

I’m thinkin’ about

 Wide-open spaces far away

All I want is the wind in my hair

To face the fear but not feel scared.

Wild Horses I wanna be like you

Throwing caution to the wind

I’ll run free too

Wish I could recklessly love like I’m longing to….

I wanna run with the wild horses

Run with the wild horses

I see the girl I wanna be

Riding bareback carefree along the shore

If only that someone was me

Jumping headfirst, headlong

Without a thought

To act and forget the consequence

How I wish it could be that easy

But fear surrounds me like a fence

I wanna break free

All I want is the wind in my hair

To face the fear but not feel scared

Wild Horses I wanna be like you

Throwing caution to the wind

I’ll run free too

Wish I could recklessly love like I’m longing to….

I wanna run with the wild horses

Run with the wild horses
